A wort chiller is a device that allows the homebrewer to bring boiling wort down to yeast pitching temperature quickly. It negates any chance of infection from bacteria and also helps to produce a clearer beer. The benefits of a counter flow chiller are that they consume less water and chill at least twice as fast as most immersion types.
